  3. Search by Speaker within the Text Window

After generating a transcript and assigning all of the speakers, it would be extremely useful to be able to search the transcript by speaker in the Text panel.

  4. enable import of .txt and .csv for localization of videos

Hello everyone, I thought Premiere was able to do this but apparently not (or I am missing something). So Premiere gives us the ability to create .srt files and subtitles (which is great since Pr 2022 by the way, I love it!). We also have the option to export .csv and .txt files. However, if I send those files over for translations and my partners translate everything, I am not able to re-import those same exact .txt or .csv files and generate a new .srt file from that (or in-video subtitles, for instance). So at this point I do not…

  5. After update, transcript window shortcuts no longer work

Before updating to the latest version, I could click on a word in the transcript window, hit "CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + S" and enter into "edit mode", rather than having to double click the word.

After updating, this keyboard shortcut only works some of the time, and seems random. It's a huge time waster. Not happy today.

  6. Caption editing crashes app on auto-save

If you're editing an on-screen caption and typing at the exact moment the program attempts to auto-save, the app will freeze. Every time. Very reproducible bug.
If the text box for the caption is not selected, the auto-save works fine.

  8. Custom transcript library

Allow transcript/captions libraries to "learn". I work in a specialized industry and I get tired of having to correct the same words and phrases repeatedly. I'd love for Premiere to identify defined words and phrases that I commonly encounter in my work.

  9. JKL Functionality in Text Tab

When I am going through a transcript or captions. I love that it will pause playback when I need to change something. however, when i want to resume playback I must press spacbar or click on timeline tab. JKL doesn't work. I would smooth up workflow if I could use JKL in the text tab. I often am reviewing transcripts at 2x playback speed and its a pain to go back and forth between text tab and timeline tab just to get to 2x playback.

  10. Generating captions from an imported non-timecode transcript

Adobe's captioning tools have improved enormously. Thank you! But we'd love to see a feature that allows captions to be made from a non-time-coded transcript file. In other words, to have Premiere Pro perform the timings from supplied text. YouTube lets you do this – paste in a transcription and then let it assign timings and give you back a .srt file.
Please enhance Adobe's captioning smarts with this feature!

  12. Workflow working with captions

It is kinda difficult to work with the captions if you import text from a text tool, and there is no easy way of creating new captions, and you always have to move the playhead. Which makes it more difficult to time out your captions later on.

You either have to put in every text as you go along and "sync" it to the video. Or you first have to haphazardly put in the text, and then "sync" it to the video.

It would be better to able to easily import the text, and then being able to "sync" it…

  13. Transcription spell checker does not respect English(UK) spellings

So the automatic spell checker when set to English (UK) is retaining a lot of US based spellings for a number of words, particularly -ize and izm instead of -ise and -ism, behavior instead of behaviour, etc.

  14. Tamil Language should also be added for transcribing and creating captions for videos

Premiere Pro comes only with few language options for the purpose of creating captions - English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Hindi etc.
Please add TAMIL language as well.

  15. Ability to insert and edit pauses (...) when editing speech to text / captions

The speech to text function saves a lot of time, but it needs improving.

When editing the speech to text transcription in the text window, before generating captions, it would be really nice to have some level of control over over the "pauses" that it automates and inserts.

It's really unwieldy; for example: sometimes I edit a misheard/automatically generated text which is directly next to these pauses, like the beginning of a new sentence, and as a result the pause just disappears entirely, creating confusion for the system when it actually generates the caption track.

    Being able to cut and…

  16. Allow transcripts panel to export SRT or allow 0 second minimum caption duration

I want to split up my auto-transcript into words and apply those as captions that come on word by word as they're spoken (as is often seen in tiktoks these days). I can manually cut it up into individual words, but the problem is creating captions directly from the transcript enforces a minimum duration of at least 1.2 seconds. (I tried to attach an example video but i guess it was too large) The workaround would be to export the transcript and reimport it in the captions panel, but neither the txt or csv files it can export will correctly…

  17. I would like to be able to rotate captions and move them wherever I like.

Currently I am unable to rotate captions like you can with other text. Also, I'd like to be able to move captions wherever I need them to. I believe there's a 10% safe margin in place to prevent me from moving captions all the way to the edge of the screen.

  18. "number" is always translated as "no" with transcribe

the new transcribe/captions function works great but always transcribes the word "number" or "numbers" as "no" which makes sense as an abbreviation but should always be spelled out for transcript purposes.

  19. Warn the user when text is overset in captions.

I'd find it really useful if the captions tool could give some sort of little visual indicator when text is too long for the field and is cutting off - similar to how InDesign warns the user about overset text.

  20. Add "import script" to cross-reference auto-generated transcript.

The auto-generated captions feature recently added is wonderful! I look forward to seeing some of the UI streamlined in the future.

My idea is this: in the transcription menu, add an "import script" option (or call it whatever) where you can copy/paste text (preferably rich text) for the program to cross reference with it's auto-generated transcription. The program already does a surprisingly good job, but this could ensure 100% accuracy for videos with pre-scripted content. Paired with the automatically timed captions, this could be a very useful addition!
