  1. Subtitles Improvements

I'm excited about the improvements to the subtitles. However, I'd like to have the ability to move the text all the way to the bottom of the frame. Also, extend the background box to the edge and bottom of the frame. I would like to be able to import txt files as well as srt files. I often have scripts that I break into subtitles and save as txt.

Since I switched to Pr, I've still been forced to use Avid for subtitles because of the rich features.

  2. Paste text with line break in the captions panel.

When we are going to create a caption it would be interesting when pasting from a text editor to the premiere, to be able to use line breaks as new captions.

This would speed up the captioning process when we already have the text.

Another feature is to place an expansion bar or button in the transcription area.

  4. Transcribe Beta

first of just started to play with the beta transcribe. Brilliant. I have a ten min. interview broken in to 4 segments with voiceover intro and overview, two differrent speakers. cant move the captions around, Assuming that locked at moment. But, the interviewee when transcribe puts below my speaker. Probaly just dumb luck but if it was planned great. When i transcribe the entire video it places mid left. when i transcibe audio only it puts down in closed caption area. Again I understand options are few. I tried to transcibe with the music underscore on it tried for two…

  5. Bug: PPro 2021 beta renders serif font when subtitle is styled

Using PPro 2021 Beta. Imported .srt file created in Happy Scribe app.

The font renders the subtitle track using a sans serif font (looks like Helvetica for example), except when the captions has an Italic code, as in

    139
    00:07:19,435 --> 00:07:22,120
    we today would call
    these <i>monoline</i> letters.

This caption is rendered in a different serif font (looks like Times).

  6. Transcript translation

For the transcript panel, it would be great if it can also do a translation into different languages as well (meaning if the audio is in English, it can translate it into Spanish)

  7. RE: New speech to text transcription - Multiple rows in CC?

The new Transcription function in Premiere Pro Beta works OK. It would be nice to be able to select how many rows you would want the subtitles/captions to be once you apply transcription to the CC track. Currently I have only been able to get single row captions working from transcript.

  8. character count

Actually I would like this option for all types of captions and subtitles, basically character count is a necessity when creating subtitles and it is a shame that I have to go to another program simply to count my characters per line,
It also doesnt help that the character spacing varies,
so I cant simply "measure out" my character limit by
creating a line of x's for example

    like this:

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Let me know if you have more questions regarding this issue,

I think simply an automatic line break function would be great - with a set amount, or a…

  9. captioning still broken

Just had to burn some SRT's into a project. I notice the text still won't sit correctly on the background with no way to manually adjust it. Hasn't this been going on for years now?

  10. Double clic on a caption segment opens the text panel

Right now, if I double click on a segment, it opens the source of the underlying visual when I'd want to open the caption's (text) panel AND place the cursor at edit point.

  11. Please add more support for Closed Captions. I work on projects that involve Deaf/Blind individuals.

Please add more support for Closed Captions. I work on projects that involve Deaf/Blind individuals and its alarming to see how tricky and difficult it is to manipulate Closed Caption files and make edits. Please make this more simple and streamlined so Caption files can work as smoothly as video files. It's incredibly difficult to make adjustments, yet everything else seems to work logically and just fine. Please work on this for the next update. Thank you.

  12. Please provide an easy to find and create for Captions tutorial

You need to make this easier for users especially as all of us have paid you to use Premiere Pro and instead you have made it harder for all of us to be able to use Prem Pro, and force us to spend hours looking through google for tutorials (thank god for people posting tutorials in youtube, even if there is hardly anything on this particular aspect I'm asking about!)
You should be saying to users to do the following to add captions: Go to File>New>Captions (down the list near the bottom) and then showing people the right menu choices…

  13. Embedded Scenarist captions showing up as Mac Closed Captions in AME in 14.7 and .8

    Windows 10/64 - 32GB RAM - GTX 1080 PPro 14.7 and .8

When I export an XDCAMHD 50 (NTSC) MXF with embedded captions from an SCC (Scenarist) file on the timeline, in the captions tab, the caption output box shows SCC. However, when it is queued to Adobe Media Encoder, it has switched the captions to Mac Closed Captions (.mcc)
In 14.8, it won't even allow me to embed (or sidecar) SCC data in PPro, only MCC, XML, and SRT. Our broadcast servers only recognize the SCC data. I have used this workflow previously with great success.

  14. BUG: 708 Captions display incorrectly

    x-post from message boards:

Current workflow for network delivery is export 1080/23.98 ProResHQ master from competitor's NLE, Rewrap and embed 608/708 CC using CineXtools. Files have been checked on various waveform monitors, Telestream Switch and Quicktime player. All show embedded CC correctly.

Network then imports captioned master file into Premiere Pro v14.7 for formatting. From this point, 708 captions are incorrect. They are at the top of screen rather than where originally placed, the text color is grey instead of white, many characters (particularly apostrophes) are incorrect, and entire blocks of captions are missing.

In Premiere Pro v13, both 608…

  15. Open-captions issue between projects

Working with a co-editor in a different state, I have noticed that if he changes captions in his project, the captions no longer show up for me. The clips show up in the timeline, they don't indicate they are offline, and I can open the captions panel, but it will not show on the program/source monitors or export. I have tried everything (relinking the srt, having him send his new srt, toggling the captions view, etc.) but nothing fixes the problem, so I have to make a new srt and manually type everything in. for multiple hour-long episodes, it is…

  18. Convert CC tracks to essential graphics

With the new CC/subtitles work flow, it's only possible to show one CC/sub layer at a time. Most of the time, we use multiple onscreen languages at a time so it would be neat if you could, after importing and dragging your .SRT to a CC track, select your Subtitle track and convert all titles to Essential Graphics clips that you can use on a video layer. It would then be possible to show multiple languages all at once as burnt in subtitles.

  19. Different caption tracks on the project panel appear as if they were the same in the timeline

When duplicating caption tracks in the project panel and modifying its contents they still appear as if they were the same in the timeline. It even shows the duplicated footage color warning for each clip.

If I close and reopen the project then they show as expected, each with its own content

  20. Bug with "Burn into video" subtitles - explained and demonstrated in video

    Hello,
Subtitles have been driving me crazy and I thought the problem was me, but something was weird.

Basically, in a pretty normal work flow, closing and re-opening Premiere speeds up the subtitles by 1XX% on the timeline, which is a huge pain to fix afterwards.

I have finally understood how to reproduce this bug and down below I posted 2 videos to explain exactly how to reproduce and hypothesis on what is happening

First, let me say that in Asia, a majority of YouTube content contains subtitles "burned into video". So this is definitely a critical feature that everyone…
