  1. As well as creating transcriptions, add an option to time and split captions from existing text.

In many cases, when a video has been based on a script, it's easier and more reliable to time the captions manually then it is to correct all of the errors which an automated transcription produces. However, automated transcripts will always get the timing exactly right.

In the transcript tab, under create transcription there should be an import text button. The transcription engine could then be used in a reduced form, to time and split the captions to where similar-sounding sentences appear.

Youtube is quite good at exactly this, but uploading videos to a social media site isn't really part…

  2. Clicking into edit mode in new captions panel

LOVING the new captions workflow (and can't wait for auto-transcription). One thing to improve: Right now clicking into the text of a caption is annoying. If I double click directly into a caption, that works OK, but if I single click first (or slower than double-click double click), then I have to double click again to open the editor. This especially happens if I'm toggling between a script and PP, so my first click just brings focus to PP, the second might select the caption (or might not...) and then I'm having to double click again...

    Can it just open…

  3. My Ideal Speech-to-Text Transcription Workflow

This is about transcription speech to text workflow. Ideally, I would be able to transcribe a clip, not a sequence, and the transcription would live on the clip, not on a sequence, because I'm using transcription to have a script with which I can cut down a video, not using transcription to create captions for export.

So after I create a transcription for a clip, and apply it as subtitles to the clip, either I would like to be able to export the subtitles to a csv file like I can do with markers, which would include both the subtitle…

  4. PLS, PLS, PLS bring back the ability to batch export captions directly from the Bin.

This used to be easy. When working with hundreds of sequences, it's not feasible to individually export SRTs from the Text Panel. And when doing it from the Export Media dialog, you HAVE to do it alongside another video or audio file. Sometimes our caption sidecars are exported months after the videos, and I would currently have to create hundreds of new videos just to export a sidecar. Before the redesign, I could simply select all my caption files in the bin, and then choose "Export > Captions." I'm BEGGING you to reinstate this function

  5. Single word italics in Captions

I'm managing a large subtitling project with over a hundred hours of translated text for public consumption. We need a professional tool to manage the video production including the subtitling, and Premiere is the standard so we're using Premiere. Because this is translating a foreign language into English, we need to show single words of italics to denote non-English words. We are having enormous problems with the captions function. It will import the .SRT accurately, but as soon as you start editing the captions the entire file will revert to regular text. Which means you lose all your changes and…

  6. Maybe a modifiable set of shortcuts for "Text" window ;)

If I could use shortcuts to "Create transcription" and, next, "Create captions" from these newly created transcripts, it would be more amazing than it already is. I could do it faster than I can do now, on batch processing terms.

  7. Request to Add Speaker Names to Captions and Transcript Text Files

I love that there is an auto-transcribe option now, especially since I can label speakers and use the transcript to create captions within the program. That being said, I would find it very helpful if the speakers' names were included on the captions AND when I export the transcript file to a text file. Is this a possibility to add to this system? Thank you for your consideration!

  8. Adding Motion to Subtitle Tracks.

With Adobe's automatically generated subtitles on the rise, we should have more control over how our subtitles' look.

Adobe should let us put effects on subtitles in the subtitle track so that we can manipulate them however we want OR let us convert the subtitles into text layers for us to be able to play around with.

  10. Two caption tracks for multiple speakers

Fo the new "text" panel, I would love to see a feature where if you have multiple speakers who are speaking at the same time, to give it the ability to give them their own caption track and style so that you can separate it out better

  11. "show duplicate frame markers" in new captions doesn't make sense

I'm working with "show duplicate frame markers" function enabled to quickly spot if i accidentally used some media twice.

If i edit captions and insert a new caption field between two already existing fields they sometimes get randomly marked as double frames. It also happens if i extend a caption. Strange thing is that only parts of the captions get marked as double frames. There's no comprehensable consistency in the behaviour. The marked caption fields have nothing in common (apart from the same properties, but sometimes not even that).

It would make sense if two identical caption fields (or at…

  12. Editing captions: DEL key behaves like BACKSPACE key in program window

If i edit captions (PPro 15.0) in the program window, pressing DEL does the same as pressing BACKSPACE: it deletes the letter before the marker, not after it.

In the text window DEL works as it should. It also works flawlessly when editing essential graphics text in the program window.

The problem only occurs when editing captions in the program window.

  13. Transcript translation

For the transcript panel, it would be great if it can also do a translation into different languages as well (meaning if the audio is in English, it can translate it into Spanish)

  16. New Text/Captions workflow : UX Improvements - it's kinda great, but kinda horrible.

The new Captions/Text tool on Premiere 15.0 is a huge improvement to the old workflow which was very buggy. I'm impressed with the quality of the Transcript in French, which recognizes 95% of the words correctly (even names). A big thanks to the team who developed it !

But working with subtitles every day, we saw that it also slowed us down on certain aspects which are very frustrating.
Here is some suggested UX improvements by priority :

1 - Make the formatting of the text the same between "edit mode" and "view mode".

In the current tool, you have…

  17. Ability to customize closed caption settings

I really like the Speech to Text transcribe feature. I have found it to work very well. The one thing that's not great is the conversion from transcript to captions. Premiere defaults to showing just one line of captions at a time. That's not standard. It would be great if there was a dialog box to allow us to set the caption settings. For example, "4-5 words per line, 2 lines per caption". Then, the transcript would be converted to captions based on those parameters.

  18. Allow use of two subtitles again

In version 14 of premiere pro I could put two different kinds of subtitles onto my video. Now in version 15 if I add a second subtitle line it is automatically hidden. If I click the eye to show it then it hides the first subtitle line. Please let us put two subtitles on a video again (without having to nest).

  19. Punjabi Language in Auto-Transcript option.

Punjabi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by the Punjabi people and native to the Punjab region of India. It has approximately 113 million native speakers all around the world. I think this will be a huge positive point for the Software itself.

  20. Speech To Text - Auto Update Changes to Captions or Transcript

When you correct captions, it should automatically update the transcript or provide the option to update the transcript. And the reverse workflow as well. After creating captions based on the transcript and afterward I see the transcript needs a correction, the caption should automatically display the corrected transcript.
