  1. More things wrong with captions

    https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro/suggestions/38080990-everything-wrong-with-captions-in-premiere-pro-13

The above link is a post detailing issues with captioning. Here are some more that I would like to add to the list:

    1.

The most egregious failing of the system is the text-editing inabilities of the Captions panel. The text box does not respect standard system keyboard shortcuts for caret navigation. All of the following standard text-editing shortcuts, that see heavy usage with document editing, do not work as expected:

    • Home/End: Instead of moving the caret to the start/end of the line, it selects the first/last caption in the list.

    • Up/Down: Instead of moving up/down a line, it…

  2. Easy to drag captions

Why are each caption bit so small in the timeline? You have to be able to hit the right adjustment spot by half a millimeter if you want to adjust the duration of one caption. If you miss, you end up dragging the whole captions section accross the timeline. It would be easier to do this if they become bigger when you adjust the height of the track.

  3. SRT captions to Essential Graphics

With social media deliverables becoming commonplace it is very common to need to convert an open-captioned film (ie for Youtube) into a 1:1 Facebook film with burned in caps. The burned-in caps options for SRT files are limited, low quality and buggy. There needs to be an option to convert all captions to an Essential Graphics template that is then itself editable on a global level (in other words all the captions can be changed together, much the same as how Master Styles work). This is not a quirk it is becoming a standard requirement and would massively help a…

  4. Ai generated captions?

    Hello,

Not sure where to find the community recommendation board, so I'm going to post it here. Ai captioning, oh boy, this would be a really cool update. Is adobe working on something like this? I feel if Premiere is taking an approach to appeal to people who are working in the Social Media world (hence adobe adding auto reframe, etc.) I feel Ai captioning would be great to have internally in the program as opposed to uploading it to 3rd party websites. Just a thought, if anyone hears anything about this or knows, would love to be updated on…

  5. Option to create & apply presets for caption/subtitle styles

I'm working with a high volume of SRT files for importing subtitles (open captions), and I currently have to manually adjust the type style every single time I do so. A couple potential solutions that would make this way more manageable:

    1) Presets. There's currently no way to create/apply a style preset for captions — all SRT imports will simply default to the unchangeable default set by Premiere. This would be manageable if there were a style dropdown with the option to save presets, much like in the Export Media window.

    2) Change Defaults in Preferences. There's currently nowhere in…

  6. ripple shift captions no longer working

Ripple shifting captions in Premiere 14.3. It used to work (I don't remember if the problem started after 14.0 or later). Now holding down command while dragging the end handle of a caption makes it about 1min30 longer, with no option to trim it down.

  7. Captions don't duplicate previous style

I'm creating open captions --but you don't have a category for that.
Why can't you give us the same power and flexibility in creating these captions as you do for text in Essential graphics? I am creating subtitles and have moved from using Essential graphics to open captions so that I have the option to edit them all at once. However, as other have pointed out, we need to be able to create a style and apply it.

Also, When I create a new caption it should duplicate the style of the previous caption by default. Instead, I'm getting different…

  8. Make captions not be buggy to the point of uselessness.

What everyone else said 1000 times. Why put a feature in the software that just makes everyone hate you because it's useless?

  9. Process the captions as video files on a dedicated subtitles track

One caption should be processed just as a standard video file.

Instead of a new "captions" file in the bin, we should create a "caption track" on the timeline.

This subtitles track would appear as some sort of "S1" track above the video tracks. It would be processed as a video file dedicated to captions, the same way you process the submix tracks for audio.

Inside the different subtitles tracks, we would be able to interact with the different subtites the way we interact with any other file in the timeline : multiple selections with shift, selection of everything after…

  10. ISSUE: Must exit project and reopen to have any changes appear in closed caption preview. -

When importing a SRT file (the only way I have used CC) and I make changes - the changes do not appear. I must save the project and exit, restart Premiere for these changes to show. This has been an ongoing issue. PLEASE ADDRESS -

  11. Caption Aliasing

    Hi all,

I've now split my caption bugs into two reports. This is about the horrible edges around caption text.

Just as the title suggests, the captions have jagged, aliased edges, as opposed to smooth crisp edges. I don't get the same results when using the standard type tool, or importing PNG files, etc. This is something specially reserved for captions.

Please note that these issues occur on both Mac and PC, but I'm currently on a Windows system, so I will post the specs for this machine:

    Premiere Pro 13.1.2, build 9
    Windows 10 64-bit (1903)
    Intel i9-9900X
    64GB…

  12. Bug in PrPro 14.2.0. / projects with captions make Premiere crash on opening

After updating to PPro 14.2.0 whenever I wanted to open a project created with a previous version and containing captions Premiere crashes directly on opening. After reverting to 14.1.0 it worked again.

  13. Editing open captions position cause Premiere Pro to crash

This has happened to me MANY times now.
Full HD project, 30 fps. I'm using Windows 10 Pro v1909.
I have one Open Captions track.
When I edit the position of a single caption (using the keyboard to enter a new time) very often this causes Premiere Pro 14.0.4 to crash.

  15. Please add keyboard shortcuts for Captions

Would love a keyboard shortcut to:

    add caption

    add caption at playhead

    start caption at playhead

    end caption at playhead.

Is this a possibility? It would save me so much time captioning work for clients.

  16. captions! DOCUMENTATION!!! TUTORIAL!!!

There have been some significant changes - mentioned in a late release but not documented.
It would be good if Adobe would create and release DOCUMENTATION and TUTORIALS for caption functions.
We're better than we were a year ago but there is much to do. If someone at Adobe had to actually caption a sequence in order to write the documentation and create the tutorial, and then mention the GRIPES he or she will inevitably have in doing this job, we might be closer to having this be a world-class part of Premiere Pro.
At the moment it is still…

  17. "Set To Current Time" quick action button in Captions

Add a button on each caption line's IN and OUT points that say "Set to current time" that way I can re-format my captions if the timing changes slightly. I currently need to click and drag each caption line's IN and OUT points separately around the dialogue, which is inaccurate and a massive waste of time. Kapwing figured this out already.

  18. keyboard shortcut cti

Keyboard shortcut to collect the current time of the CTI on the timeline. This would work while in the Captions workspace and would save several keystrokes and time while editing captions. Would team up with the Paste command to place caption start and stop times.

  20. Selecting a certain text on a caption changes its color to default black.

Selecting a certain text on a caption changes its color to default black.

I work on captions as the screenshot wherein a part of the phrase has a different color. Now, when I close it and reopen the captions and then select the color picker, while changing nothing at all, it will revert back to black. You see I have some words that are colored yellow, once I go back to those text, and then get the color picker to copy the color (because I intend to copy the color to be used in other text) the color goes back…
