Please lock the add new caption to the bottom of the dialog. Right now I have to scroll all the way to the end of my captions to add one in.

Open Captions - Italic tags <i>...</i> not recognized on two lines of text
When I import an .srt file with all some of the text italicized, I see <i>...</i> tags instead of italics in the burned-in subtitles.
When there is one line of text or one word tagged it comes out as italic.
When the whole sentence is marked as italic and it's on two lines, Premiere Pro doesn't recognize the tag and displays in in Regular font
with <i>...</i> tags.In order to display italics on both lines of text in one subtitle, each line has to be tagged <i>...</i> separately.
Please, fix the error, so when a whole block of text…11 votes -
Be able to export captions that have been cut down in the timeline.
I used Captions to cut a video that was in a language that i do not speak. As i cut the video, i did the captions. 1:1 so as to keep the lips and the captions together. now i have a cut up caption on my video that i would like to export as its own new srt file separate from the video so that it can be toggled on/off on Youtube or Vimeo and not burnt on to the video itself, but there is no way to do that. apparently i have to make a new caption file and…

Please allow for line spacing within closed captions
It would be very useful to be able to increase or decrease line spacing within the captions tool.

Open Captions fonts don't work with Creative Cloud Fonts (formerly TypeKit)
Nothing will show up at all on screen. Fonts installed on the computer are working fine.

Home and End keys do not work as expected when editing caption text.
They jump to the start/end of the entire list of captions rather than the line of text, even while the text box has focus. Please fix this; it makes it extremely time consuming to add proper line breaks to captions.

SRT file edits are not appearing in timeline.
Background color and size changes appear in the Captions panel but NOT in the timeline. All was well earlier today. I closed project, reopened, and now the SRT file cannot be edited.
Earlier issue was I edited SRT file, change appered in timeline as expected, but change would not appear in the export via encoder.
Restarted, solved that problem, but then the bkgnd color and size appear to resist being edited.
In attached screengrab, note captions panel with red background on left, and Program panel in right, with Black background and small font.
Generally, captions are ****** in Premier. Very…

SUBTITLES as RESOLVE
You could add a character counter and a warning if the number of characters in the subtitles is exceeded, such as in DaVinci Resolve.

More creative control of Text in Open Captions. Specifically, Leading and Kearning options, and Background Customization.
Please add more customization options for the Open Captions tool. Leading and Kearning would be great, and the ability to customize the background box. Ex. Rounded corners

Let us switch from one caption mode to another without having to retype everything
I can’t believe we’re unable to just switch between one caption mode to another and keep our work. It would be so much easier if we could just switch from open caption to closed caption rather than having to retype every single entry every time.

Captions are not aligned
While making subtitles using "Caption" changed the font from Arial to Gilli San and texts appears in the bottom of the Black Bar. Found no option to make it middle align. Please fix this problem.

Bug: In Media Export, "set start timecode" option applies only to video and not to closed caption sidecar
The "set start timecode" option should also apply to a sidecar caption that goes with a video file.

Open Caption duplicate only working after restart
Bugreport: I duplicate an open caption, to use its style and formatting on a other timeline in the same project. When I drag it into the other timeline, I can edit the captions, but nothing happens in the programscreen. The old caption stays visible.
I have to restart Premiere Pro to see the changes made, and only then it works fully functional.6 votes -

captions continue past the end out point in edit.
Captions from a previous clip, or sequence, still remain visible past the end point out of the edit. See attached file. This has been a constant issue in every new version of PPro. PLEASE FIX this and if possible, try to include more options for kerning in the text.

Make Caption exporting available from more menu options
It's very difficult to find how to export Captions. It's ONLY available if you highlight the item in the Projects display window as a right click or from File > Export.
It is NOT available when the captions are highlighted in the Timeline.
It's greyed out as an Export option if you don't have this project item selected.
It is not available through the Media Export ... as you cant switch off Video and Photo.
- Can it be available and not greyed out if you have a caption track (if you had more than one caption tracks you could…6 votes -
Premiere Pro Closed Captions to support V-Chip / MPAA / "Canadian English Language Rating System"
Other software packages that support closed captions allow for the creation/inclusion of regional ratings. Everything that is broadcast in Canada requires captions, and our BDUs require embedded ratings.
Right now we require other software to accomplish this. In some instances we are re-encoding AME mezzanine files simply to apply V-chip ratings. If Adobe supported the creation of V-chip ratings we would no longer require competing software for a number of our workflows.
Please see attached and the following thread for examples.

Premiere Pro CC (CC 19 13.0.2) still shifts captions randomly on the timeline
Captions on a timeline might stay in their place for three or four times saving, exiting and restarting Premiere, but then all of a sudden their in and out points CHANGE, not being in sync anymore. This is an old bug and it is still not fixed, working with subtitles that are burned into the video is basically not possible this way!!

Bug fix / Feature change Request: Please add availability of File Format window to the Embed in output file dialog box.
September 26, 2018 7:19 PM
Bug fix / Feature change Request: Please add availability of File Format window to the Embed in output file dialog box.Problem in short: .MCC will not embed both 608 and 708 properly unless .MCC is selected in the Create Sidecar File Menu first. The issue creates a scenario where you are expecting 608 and 708 caption files to be embedded in the output file, but when happens instead is only the 608 Captions are embedded.
Problem longer description: I discovered that .mcc caption files, containing 608/708 captions, do not properly Embed in output file…
