  1. Add leading to captions

I am very glad this feature was added a while ago! It it helpful to have.

My request is for leading control.

When my selected font is used, the descenders fall off below the black background box which is ugly. I need to be able to adjust the text leading to move the font back onto the box.

    Thanks for considering.

  2. New caption starts at play head option

When adding a new caption it would be nice to have the option to have the caption start from the play head, instead of starting at the end of the last caption, a simple button next to the plus and minus buttons would be great to toggle between the two modes. This would be a lot easier than using the stretch tools on the timeline which are so fiddly to use. Making these less fustrating to use would also be very welcome!

  4. Improved Closed Captions Settings

COPY/DUPLICATE A CAPTION - It would be a lot convenient to be able to copy or duplicate a sentence or a line in a closed caption item inside of itself. This will save a lot of time when we're making a lyrics caption where chorus and some verse have the same words.

CAPTION LENGTH OPTION - Most of the captions or sentences I add in my closed captions takes a long time to be read. I wish there is a way to just change the default length of a caption when you click the add a caption button. This will…

  5. BUG: Captions - importing .srt - need to shut PP before editing

When I import an .srt file. I then add as a video track in my sequence to start viewing/editing using Captions Tab - But the edits don't appear in programme viewer i.e. the edit changes.....

Before I can edit the text, I need to shut down PP and reopen it, then the edits are as live. If I try to edit the text, font size etc etc before I've done this, it works in the Captions editor, but doesn't display until I've restarted PP.

  7. Make captions not be buggy to the point of uselessness.

What everyone else said 1000 times. Why put a feature in the software that just makes everyone hate you because it's useless?

  8. Easy to drag captions

Why are each caption bit so small in the timeline? You have to be able to hit the right adjustment spot by half a millimeter if you want to adjust the duration of one caption. If you miss, you end up dragging the whole captions section accross the timeline. It would be easier to do this if they become bigger when you adjust the height of the track.

  9. Ai generated captions?

    Hello,

Not sure where to find the community recommendation board, so I'm going to post it here. Ai captioning, oh boy, this would be a really cool update. Is adobe working on something like this? I feel if Premiere is taking an approach to appeal to people who are working in the Social Media world (hence adobe adding auto reframe, etc.) I feel Ai captioning would be great to have internally in the program as opposed to uploading it to 3rd party websites. Just a thought, if anyone hears anything about this or knows, would love to be updated on…

  11. ripple shift captions no longer working

Ripple shifting captions in Premiere 14.3. It used to work (I don't remember if the problem started after 14.0 or later). Now holding down command while dragging the end handle of a caption makes it about 1min30 longer, with no option to trim it down.

  12. Captions don't duplicate previous style

I'm creating open captions --but you don't have a category for that.
Why can't you give us the same power and flexibility in creating these captions as you do for text in Essential graphics? I am creating subtitles and have moved from using Essential graphics to open captions so that I have the option to edit them all at once. However, as other have pointed out, we need to be able to create a style and apply it.

Also, When I create a new caption it should duplicate the style of the previous caption by default. Instead, I'm getting different…

  13. Process the captions as video files on a dedicated subtitles track

One caption should be processed just as a standard video file.

Instead of a new "captions" file in the bin, we should create a "caption track" on the timeline.

This subtitles track would appear as some sort of "S1" track above the video tracks. It would be processed as a video file dedicated to captions, the same way you process the submix tracks for audio.

Inside the different subtitles tracks, we would be able to interact with the different subtites the way we interact with any other file in the timeline : multiple selections with shift, selection of everything after…

  15. Bug in PrPro 14.2.0. / projects with captions make Premiere crash on opening

After updating to PPro 14.2.0 whenever I wanted to open a project created with a previous version and containing captions Premiere crashes directly on opening. After reverting to 14.1.0 it worked again.

  16. Editing open captions position cause Premiere Pro to crash

This has happened to me MANY times now.
Full HD project, 30 fps. I'm using Windows 10 Pro v1909.
I have one Open Captions track.
When I edit the position of a single caption (using the keyboard to enter a new time) very often this causes Premiere Pro 14.0.4 to crash.

  18. fix closed captions

It's 12:01AM and I would have been finished with my edit hours ago if it were not for the numerous bugs related to closed captions. I'll just list one here: edits in the captions are not reflected in the program monitor. I can create a new caption or change the timing of a caption, and it will not be shown when I play the video. I can delete words and the captions will not re-center themselves (okay, that's a separate bug, but worth mentioning here too). And sometimes the formatting is just completely wrong. The spacing will be too tight…

  19. Please add keyboard shortcuts for Captions

Would love a keyboard shortcut to:

    add caption

    add caption at playhead

    start caption at playhead

    end caption at playhead.

Is this a possibility? It would save me so much time captioning work for clients.

  20. captions! DOCUMENTATION!!! TUTORIAL!!!

There have been some significant changes - mentioned in a late release but not documented.
It would be good if Adobe would create and release DOCUMENTATION and TUTORIALS for caption functions.
We're better than we were a year ago but there is much to do. If someone at Adobe had to actually caption a sequence in order to write the documentation and create the tutorial, and then mention the GRIPES he or she will inevitably have in doing this job, we might be closer to having this be a world-class part of Premiere Pro.
At the moment it is still…
